Steve Bowen


Born in Chingola, Zambia Steve was raised in Sudbury Ontario
Began studying Suzuki method classical violin at the age of four,
with professor Doctor Metro Kozak.
By age five, Steve was also enrolled in extra classes studying
bluegrass fiddle with Canadian bluegrass instructor Ron Reed.
By age six, he had competed in and won, the twelve and under
class in a Shelburn Fiddle Contest.
By twelve years of age, Steve became the prodigy student of the late
Ukranian Maestro/Professor Emil First.

Steve also began studying the guitar at the age of thirteen, and has
become quite an accomplished guitarist.

Steve competed provincially in both Kiwanis classical competitions
and at bluegrass competitions, winning countless awards.
Received a grant to study orchestral violin at the Banff Music and Arts
Center at the age of fifteen.
Performed with the Sudbury youth Orchestra over a three year period.

Graduated from Georgian College with a degree in Civil Aviation
Air Carrier Management.

1994, Steve joined a highly successful Celtic Rock outfit called
‘The Swinish Multitude’, based out of Hamilton Ontario.
Together they released an independent CD ‘A Multitude Of Sins’.
1996 Steve released his own CD entitled ‘Fiddler’s Journey’.
Performed across Ontario at Festivals, Resorts, Pubs, Universities,
charities and corporate events.
2000 Steve created his touring act ‘Life After 9’.
The band went on an amazing tour throughout Asia, spanning over
a period of five years.
Steve and Life After 9 performed at exclusive Balls, Gallas, Festivals,
Corporate Events, Pubs, Clubs, Charity Foundations and for International
Embassy events.
Received letters of reference from the Thai-Canadian Chamber of Commerce
and the Thai-Australian Chamber of Commerce both in Bangkok Thailand.

Released four independent CD’s entitled Stomp, Back on the Street, Bowin 24/7
and a special St. Patricks Day CD entitled ‘Paddy’s Day Kiss’ where the
proceeds were donated to the Human Development Foundation in Bangkok.

In 2003, Steve created his production SHA ZAM
He and his electric violin dance fusion show toured throughout South-East
Asia’s most pristine events.
SHA ZAM headline two annual Sailing Regatta’s in Phuket Thailand, with
the second show being only days before the 1994 Tsunami disaster.
Multiple hotel and Condominium openings in cities including Penang Malaysia,
Singapore, and Bangkok Thailand.
Performed at various Hard Rock Café special events.
Television documentaries on SHA ZAM aired on stations, Destination
Thailand, TV Thunder, Channel 7 Bangkok and The Discovery Channel’s
weekly program, Discovery Asia, performing alongside Johnnhy Logan.
Received a letter of commendation from the American Events Coordinator
for the American Embassy in Thailand.
Released a full length DVD through his own production company
‘Sharx Productions’.

2007, Steve returned to Canada and immediately created Bluegrass/Celtic Rock
Act ‘Fiddlestix’.
Released compilation CD entitled ‘Working Class Band’.
Currently performing throughout various pubs and clubs in the Greater Toronto
Area.
Steve has recently written his latest theatrical production entitled ‘Fiddler’s Journey’.
Through massive auditions, Steve was able to gather a group of musicians and
dancers of various ethnic origins, and the crew have already began rehearsals bi-weekly.
The production is set to release in the fall of 2008.

To date Steve has performed more the 2500 live shows.
